First ride on my baby

Today I took my new whip out for a ride. I can't believe what I difference it makes, although side wind can be pretty scary😬 

Went for a ride with grandad (in his car hah) to do some hill reps, still hard work even on my speed machine. 

The biggest difference has to be having no pain in my back and shoulders while riding, having my bike set up has made a massive impact on the way I ride and made it more enjoyable, thanks again Cycle Mode.

Happy start to my 2016 Season

Today is International Day of Happiness so I'm going to share my happiness by updating my blog on the things that make me happy and a quick update on my training :D Yesterday I started my 2016 season by doing Clumber Park Duathlon and I cannot put into words how happy I was to be able to race. Thinking back to last month when I was so weak I couldn't even carry the bread in the supermarket for my mum or open the car door myself, I am so happy to be back racing. I stood on the start line with a grin across my face while everyone else was looking serious and ended the race with a smile just as big. The saying you don't know how much you love something until you can't do it has never meant so much to me as it does now. I am so happy and grateful for everything in life and I'm so happy I've got the chance to race again. Lisbon European Championships 2016

Delta-Simons Aquathon Lincoln  On Wednesday 18th May it was the first round of the Delta-Simons Aquathon series at Activities Away in Lincoln, the series is held on a Wednesday evening each month from May to September. I would definitely recommend the events - fun, well organised and a great way to get in some open water, transition and run practise. The event is an 800m swim and 3km run round the lake with prizes for the top 3 male and female competitors and this year there is also a free junior Aquathon. Angus (my boyfriend) and I met at the lake after he finished work then a quick change into our wetsuits for a 7pm start. When we lined up between the buoys I started next to Angus with the aim to beat him out the lake and had my friend Sofie on the other side who is a very fast swimmer also. Another Weekend, Another Race!

In the last 4 weeks I have competed in 6 races as part of a 7-week racing block ahead of my first ‘A’ race of the year – National Triathlon Standard Distance Championships! These were; Deva Standard Distance Triathlon Leeds Aquathon Lincoln AA Delta Simons Aquathon Alford Wheelers 10mile TT Woodhall Spa Sprint Distance Triathlon Cholmondeley Castle Series Standard Distance Triathlon Deva Standard Distance Triathlon – Sunday 24 th June Deva triathlon was the first tri Angus and I booked for this year as its one of Angus’ favourite events and I was keen to give it a go. Not long after we booked it we also found out it was a qualifier for the 2017 World Championships in Rotterdam so was a good opportunity for Angus to qualify so we could both compete in September (I have already qualified being British Champion from last year).
