Battle Oats Product Review

Over the last couple of weeks Angus and I were lucky enough to have the opportunity to try Battle Oats products in between our training. For those of you who haven’t heard of Battle Oats, they are an energy snack which are 100% natural and gluten free.

Angus and I have tried the Battle Oats flapjacks and cookies after training and also as snacks to sustain energy through the day. I especially have a very sweet tooth, so to aid with my training finding tasty natural snacks to graze on would really help improve my performance.

Let’s start with the flapjack, one of my favourite treats! Battle Oats have a great choice of available which includes:
  • Cherry Bakewell
  • Dark Chocolate Chip
  • Double Chocolate Brownie
  • White Chocolate Coconut
  • Berry Fusion
  • Cookies and Cream
  • Cinnamon and Raisin
  • Cranberry and Blueberry

We were both given one of each new flavour to try each so Angus and I have reviewed the flapjacks out of 10 and a quick review on why.

Cherry Bakewell
First up was the cherry bakewell flapjack, both Angus and I love cherry bakewells and flapjack so the two together was something we couldn’t wait to try! It was even better than we expected, a very yummy flapjack that tasted just like cherry bakewell!

Emily – 8/10
Angus – 9/10

Dark Chocolate Chip
Dark chocolate chip was not my cup of tea but Angus definitely approved. I’m not a fan of dark chocolate so wasn’t that keen on this flapjack when compared to the other flavours. However, Angus love dark chocolate so found this flapjack very yummy.

Double Chocolate Brownie
Another one of our favourite treats is chocolate brownie, especially when it’s nice and gooey! This was definitely my favourite flapjack, it was a flapjack base with a gooey brownie top layer, definitely one for someone with a sweet tooth.

Emily – 10/10
Angus – 9/10

White Chocolate Coconut
This flapjack was a little disappointing due to not being able to taste any white chocolate. Both Angus and I are lovers of white chocolate so not to get this flavour come through was upsetting.

Emily – 4/10
Angus – 6/10

Berry Fusion
Very yummy fruity flapjack! Berries and flapjack is always a perfect match!

Emily – 7/10
Angus – 8/10

Cookies and Cream
Cookies and cream is a classic sweet flavour and this flapjack definitely lived up to expectations.

Emily – 9/10
Angus – 10/10

As well as tasty natural flapjacks, Battle Oats also make a variety of cookies:
  • Lemon Drizzle
  • Mocha Chocolate Chip
  • Double Chocolate
  • Chocolate Chip

Lemon Drizzle
We didn’t particularly like the taste or texture of this cookie, it was quite soft and powdery - not the usual crunchier texture expected for a cookie.

Emily – 4/10
Angus – 4/10

Mocha Chocolate Chip
Both Angus and I aren’t coffee drinkers so it was nice to find this cookie isn’t a strong coffee taste and there was a good balance between coffee and chocolate.

Emily – 6/10
Angus – 6/10

Double Chocolate
The chocolate flavour of this cookie was just right and we both enjoyed this cookie, making this our favourite out of these 4 cookies.

Emily – 8/10
Angus – 7/10

Chocolate Chip
The texture of this cookie was a similar texture to the lemon drizzle cookie, very soft and powdery.

Emily – 5/10
Angus – 6/10

Angus and I personally preferred the taste and texture of the flapjacks over the cookies as recovery and energy snacks. Our favourites of these was the cookies and cream flapjack and double chocolate brownie flapjack, closely followed by the cherry bakewell flapjack. Definitely all perfectly sweet and a great tasty natural snack.

Thanks for reading our review, we hope you enjoyed it!
